Web Design Trends For 2009
Posted on Thursday, 15th January 2009“We Web designers are a fickle lot. We love to experiment with things. We love to observe how people interact with our work. And we love to try out unusual design approaches that might possibly go mainstream and become a classic approach. As result, new design approaches come up, and as more and more designers notice them and make use of them, new trends emerge.”
960 Grid System Video Tutorial
Posted on Thursday, 15th January 2009“CSS frameworks are bloated. CSS frameworks are for people who don’t know how to code. CSS is too simple to implement a framework.
If you’ve ever read a tutorial on a CSS framework, I can guarantee that many comments mimic the previous statements. My guess is that the majority of these comments are stemmed from slight ignorance. Once you take the opportunity to spend some time with 960, you’ll be amazed at how much time can potentially be saved when developing your web applications. At the very least, take ten minutes to review the framework. You can always press the delete key…though I doubt you will!

The Golden Ratio in Web Design
Posted on Tuesday, 13th January 2009This is an interesting article about the use of the golden ratio in web design, and further information about using grids for design.
“Math is beautiful. Does that sound a little strange? I sure thought so when I first started designing. Math is so rigid and often times boring, or so I thought. You would be surprised to find out that most aesthetically pleasing designs, works of art, objects and even people have math in common. Specifically the Golden Ratio, also known as the divine proportion, which is designated by the Greek letter Φ (phi). This tutorial will cover the anatomy and layout of a website and how the Golden Ratio relates.”
web.junkie Update
Posted on Wednesday, 7th January 2009I added Google PageRank (Google updated the toolbar PageRank on the new year 2009) and hosting location under the image preview. Maybe it’s a bit of useless info, but kinda fun to know.
I have planned to add more meaningful info such as designer’s comments, who designed it, their company/personal website, year, etc etc so it will be a good source for other people.
